Fiona is the one to share them with and she'll help you find solutions and make recommendations. The second session will provide follow-up and support within three- or four months after the first). Am I eligible to enter?

In brief, these are the main requirements for entry to The Writer's Spark Competition. Please be sure read the competition rules in full before entering. You'll also find more information about the Competition on the rules page.

 

The competition closes at 11 a.m. MST on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.

 

You need to:

> Have reached the age of majority in their jurisidiction and/or country of residence.

> Be an unpublished creative writer - on or offline, including recordings. 

> Submit an answer to Question One of between 500 and 1000 characters on why you deserve to be the winner. This is the answer on which your entry will be evaluted. Judges Sheelagh Caygill and Fiona Fenwick will consider how well an answer is written. They will look at spelling and grammar, use of language, persuasiveness, and writing style.

> Submit an answer to Question Two of between 300 and 700 chracters describing your project. Include the genre, subject, whether you've started your project, and your deadline, if you have one.

> Be working on a lengthy writing project, such as a book of fiction, nonfiction, essays, script or screenplay, or poetry collection, that will cover the length of prize delivery, which can be anywhere between a few months and a year depending on your schedule, and Fiona's and Sheelagh's schedule. 

 

> Pay the entry fee of $6.00 CDN at Ko-fi when you submit your entry.​​

> Submit your entry in English. Note that coaching and editing sessions will be in English.
